A seasoned, visionary communicator, Erica Stanley has navigated complex communications challenges spanning issue areas and industries for 20 years. Erica brings tested agency and in-house experience providing strategic communications insight across political, issue advocacy and corporate sectors.
Prior to Stanley Strategic Communications, Erica led marketing and communications efforts at The National Partnership for Women & Families. Leading a team of eight, her work bolstered the organization's efforts to promote fairness in the workplace, access to quality, affordable health care and policies that help meet the dual demands of work and family. Erica developed and executed the strategies and messages that promoted and positioned the organization as a powerful voice for women and leading expert on workplace issues, health policy and reproductive rights.
On the agency side, Erica spent seven years at The Glover Park Group where she developed and executed integrated communications strategies for a client portfolio of nonprofits, corporations and issue advocacy organizations. At GPG, she led multiple large nonprofit and corporate accounts spanning issues and industries, including education, financial services, health care, technology and commercial real estate. Erica’s integrated communications campaigns drove advocacy, boosted reputations and achieved marketing goals for her clients.
Erica also has a background in public opinion research and advertising. She held the positions of research analyst and field director at Lake Research Partners, where she provided polling and messaging services to clients focused on a range of issues including reproductive rights, the environment, education and women’s health. At MacWilliams Robinson & Partners, she served as a media consultant to top-tier congressional candidates and issue organizations.
She has local government expertise from her stint as deputy communications director for Washington, D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty. Erica served as an on-the-record spokesperson in the mayor’s active press office and drove communications strategy during the height of the city’s education reform efforts.
Erica got her start in D.C. working on state and national media outreach for wilderness protection efforts for the Campaign for America’s Wilderness, now Pew Environment Group, a national organization dedicated to preserving our nation’s special wild places.
A graduate of Elon University, Erica holds a BA in Communications. She lives on Capitol Hill with her husband and daughter.
